What happens if you combine high rep sets and low rep sets in weightlifting?

Okay, so this question is actually pretty interesting to me because the program I’ve been using for the past few months actually does this. All of my accessory work is done in 2 sets of 8-10 and 12-15 (one set of each respectively). What I’ve noticed is that it does exactly what the given rep ranges are supposed to do. (8-10 MUSCLE GROWTH AND 12-15 ENDURANCE). What I’ve also noticed is that my cardio has gotten amazing (I don’t really take long breaks - probably about 30 seconds at max).
