The Jason Blaha Novice Powerlifting Program is a program that mimics the Starting Strength 5 x 5 program - the major difference is that each workout includes more bodybuilding movements (like curls and shrugs). The program has 2 workouts (A and B) that you alternate between every 2 days.

The goal of this program is to help lifters develop their physical base so their bodies can support the heavier weights. It has a hypertrophy focus. No it does not use RPE.

How does the program work?
The program is very similar to StrongLifts 5 x5 in that you alternate between 2 workouts each with the base 3 movements for each day. You’re also taking two rest days and starting from where you started.
Workout A:
Squat 5 x 5
Bench Press 5 x 5
Barbell Row 5 x 5
Barbell Shrugs: 3×8
Tricep Extensions: 3×8
Curls: 3×8
Hyperextensions: 2×10
Cable Crunches: 3×10
Workout B:
Squat 5 x 5
Overhead Press 5 x 5
Deadlift 1 x 5
Barbell Row 5×5 (90% of Day “A”)
Closegrip Bench 3×8
Curls 3×8
Cable Crunches 3×10
